As I peruse this thread, I find something interesting.

When many of us where beating up on John Kerry for being pro-abortion, no objection was made. But, if a pro-abortion Republican is criticized, suddenly we're "single-issue" voters, and "stupid" numbskulls.

Funny how that works.

Ugh, that isn't "midly pro-choice". I would consider that pro-life with a few extremely rare exceptions. She considered herself to be "libertarian" on this issue which if you think about it doesn't mean anti government intervention considering no matter what side of the issue you're on there will be government intervention from the feds or the state. And where have you heard that she is against Roe vs Wade?

But it won't stop all the righteous huffing and puffing.

Isn't that the truth; and have you noticed it's ALWAYS the same group, the Unappeasables? It's been the same group since 1998!

Oh please. Its 2010 and two SCOTUS slots are open.

If they're both pro-choice, what difference would it make?

I disagree. In fact, evangelical Christians are more trouble than they are worth. I say, using their same logic, the GOP should show them the door, not Condi.

The evangelical base has alot of clout (more than you apparently give them credit) and if you like perpetual minority status in governing this great land, please continue with that thought process.

Exactly.

The single issue voters are willing to let a Democrat sit in the White House. Abortion will be the LAST thing on anyone's mind if there's an attack worse than 9/11. And that's just what will happen someday, and all the more likely with a Dem in office.

Well put. She wouldn't get any votes here either, even against Hillary. We'd sit it out.

I hope you soon come to the realization that that would be a truly misguided move.

Would you vote for someone who is militantly pro-abortion like Hillary? If not then you have to realize that not voting for a "mildly pro-choice" candidate hands the election to the unsavory characters at moveon.org.

the evangelicals stayed home in droves in 2000 per Karl Rove and I would say they are not the hard core as much as an important segment.....alot of Republicans are Christians but not evangelicals....

You are exactly right.

"Mildly pro-choice" describes about 70-80% of Republicans.

I doubt that number, but let's go with it.

Is that enough to win a general election?

"In fact, evangelical Christians are more trouble than they are worth. I say, using their same logic, the GOP should show them the door, not Condi."

That's a brilliant deduction, Dr. Poindexter.

The GOP not only wins SQUAT without Evangelicals or Bible-believing Christians, but guess what else?

IF the GOP wants to run a Pro-Death candidate, their organization and support will dry up in the South like Helen Thomas'.....well, nevermind.

And the GOP is dead anyway after it's split over NOT securing the borders.

Cheney/Rice in 08!

Pipe dream, I know, but...

"How many unborn children will be saved by staying home and allowing Hillary Clinton to be elected?"

How many would be by saved voting for Rice? If they are both pro-abortion then it's not going to make a difference. A pro-abortion Republican deserves to lose. That way maybe the party won't be stupid enough to nominate another.

Because pro-choice isn't the same as pro-abortion except in the minds of some.

How can I possibly be 'pro life' if you never give me the 'choice?'
