Two alternative theories to ponder.

One says the the US intentionally targeted her for death (only to pull her from the car and give her prompt medical attention) because she is a Commie and against US actions in the war, even though her death would have been a major diplomatic blow to US Interests.

Theory two is that she is a Commie who hates the US and sides with the "insurgents" who worked with her to stage her own kidnapping in order to gain $6 million in ransom from the Italian government while gaining her world-wide fame.

Hmmmmm. I wonder which theory is more plausible?

The whole thing is so simple.

It was a war zone. She was dumb not to EXPECT to be shot at.

If we wanted her dead, she'd be dead.

I think you have properly summarized the affair. She lets herself get captured, makes a video to try to give some leverage to get the Italian troops pulled out, allows the terrorists to get ransom money, and gets an Italian official killed. All for the sake of promoting her own warped view of reality. This woman is a truly dangerous, crazy person.
