She said they were not killers and that she may have over-dramatised her videotaped appeal from captivity for Italy to withdraw its 3,000 troops from Iraq. She sobbed in the video and begged her family and the government to do something to save her life.

Over-dramatized??? Unless the videotaped appeal was staged, that's unlikely. Now I'm wondering, was this whole kidnapping and videotaped appeal merely a sham? How would she have known her captors were not killers at the time of her "capture"? I think they need to thoroughly investigate her.

And, if this whole thing was staged, and the Italian government was paying a ransom, were they in on it (in other words, financing the terrorists), or was it solely Comrade Sgrena's idea?

She already explicitly said the video was scripted by her "captors" and that she was "acting the part".

Of course, considering the source, it probably isn't true. /sarc>
