Something you didn't know about turkeys.
Turkeys and Guinna(sp) pigs are the only animals ever domesticated in South America. When the Spanish arrived, they took the domesticated turkey back to Europe where it spread far and wide. When the Pilgrims came to America, they brought the domesticated turkey with them...many escaped and all the wild turkeys in North America today have some of the genes from the domesticated turkeys brought by the Pilgrims.
South Americans didn't invent the wheel because they didn't have any large draft animals for draft or eating. Eating protein....that's what all the ritual sacrifices were about, protein. There was a whole butchering industry focused around this ritual killing of humans. Barbecue is the Carib Indian word for 'roasted human arm.'
