Real news for Stewart: Wife arrested
Jon Stewart could be forgiven if he arrived a little late to yesterday's taping of "The Daily Show." He was busy getting his wife, Tracey McShane, out of jail. The normally wisecracking comic looked understandably anxious as he waited while his handcuffed sweetheart spent close to five hours being booked for driving with a suspended license.
McShane, 36, was driving through Central Park around 11 a.m. when she was pulled over for a moving violation, police confirmed to us.
Stewart's spokesman, Matt Labov, said: "She wasn't speeding. But the police discovered that she had a suspended license. She didn't even realize it. She paid a ticket last week. But apparently her check hadn't been processed."
Following procedure, cops impounded her car, cuffed her, loaded her into a squad car and took her to Central Booking.
There, police sources said, she was fingerprinted, posed for a mug shot and held while cops checked to see if there were any outstanding warrants for the arrest of the mother of 8-month-old Nathan Stewart....(excerpt)

Face it, you were being juvenile and were called on it by several people. Suck it up and quit trying the old "it was a joke" line. That is just as juvenile as the original crap. You have to admit his Hillary quote in his signature is ironic.... mocking her for her small minded arrogance: "You know, I'm going to start thanking the woman who cleans the restroom in the building I work in. I'm going to start thinking of her as a human being" -Hillary Clinton

The comments both of you have made regarding his wife's appearance is typical of the sludge comments that appear on DU on a regular basis.Well, I'm not in the business to win liberal friends and care not a fig about their feelings...but, when the DUmmies tone down their inflamatory rhetoric, I'll consider doing likewise.

"I would be happy if they did that to the UN members as they have hundreds of unpaid tickets....but not to someone with one ticket. That is just ridiculous."
Unfortunately, UN members have "diplomatic immunity". Wives of t.v. fake newscasters do not. You still can't blame the NYPD for doing their jobs. Like another poster said, they enforce laws not enact them.

The same thing happened to the sound engineer for Don Imus - Lou - he was arrested and cuffed for a suspended license. He said he didn't know it had been suspended. So it's apparently not unknown in NYC.

Rising to the level of the lowest common denominator isn't the ~best~ tactic, but in this case, it wasn't even his wife... just some very average looking receptionist at a vet clinic somewhere, being tossed around as a joke and called a mutt. Call me a softie, but I see no wit in that, and I see humor in a lot of things...

Good for you meandog......the minute we let up, the minute they'll be back.
Some FReepers find it "beneath them" to ridicule the Left. Here's a picture of one of them:

"The state trooper told me he couldn't let me drive off with a suspended license. Of course he also told me if I were to wait until he went down the road and then drove off there wasn't much he could do but also recommended getting the license fixed the next day which I did."
"Intelligent and compassionate officer. He was covering his butt."
I had the same thing happen, he did give me a ticket for which I had to go to court, but he told me pretty much the same. He couldn't "tell me" to drive off, but he said "I'm going THAT way, and no, I am not going to park down the street and wait for you to drive off so I can arrest you, You know what you've gotta do, get it straightened out ASAP" and he left. He was pretty cool about it. It cost me 117 dollars when I went to court.

The Daily Show, bass fishing, Antiques Roadshow, and C-Span are the only TV I can tolerate.
I used to be a fan, before he drank the DU koolaid and ceased to be as funny. He's a talent, with great comedic timing and expression. But I haven't been able to watch since he turned from comedian to a cheap shot spitballer during the election.
Dennis Miller has gotten a bit of the same problem. He clearly let's his ideology get in the way of making a good joke at his parties expense. But that's my opinion. It's rather absurd to think that people like Gary Condit and Ken Lay are playing rounds of golf in Bermuda, but this lady get's cuffed for a paid traffic violation.
