Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- A California businessman has offered Terri Schiavo's estranged husband $1 million to not starve her to death and to transfer legal guardianship for her to Terri's family.
Robert Herring, Sr., lives in San Diego and is the founder of WEALTHTV, a lifestyle and entertainment television channel. He also spent more than 30 years in the electronics industry as the founder and owner of HERCO Technology, which he later sold to a larger firm.
Herring contacted infamous attorney Gloria Allred to pay Michael Schiavo $1 million if he complies with Herring's request.
"After viewing video of Terri on television, I came to the belief that there was hope for her," Herring said in a statement Thursday. "As events have proceeded in the legal battle, it became clear to me that if something was not done for Terri, that all hope for her would be lost."
The money has been placed in a a trust account operated by Allred on Wednesday and the attorney sent a letter to Michael Thursday morning comunicating the offer.
There is no word on whether Michael will accept the offer. Should he do so, courts will still need to sign off on changing legal guardian ship for Terri.
Herring said he acted now because he is worried that Florida courts will not turn back on their decision to allow Michael to starve Terri to death next week.
"With a date of March 18th quickly approaching, and no other viable hope for Terri to be able to keep her feeding tube, I felt compelled to act," he said.
Allred confirmed Herring's rationale.
"It now appears that the court process is ending, and that the legislative process has failed to stop the removal of the feeding tube," she said.
"He recognizes that unless something is done immediately, Terri Schiavo is not likely to survive very long," Allred added. "Knowing that time is of the essence and realizing that he is fortunate enough to be able to help, he has decided to take action.".
Allred was the attorney for Amber Frey in the infamous Scott Peterson trial. Frey had an affair with Scott during the time he killed Laci and Conner Peterson.
She's not ON machines. Only has a feeding tube. She isn't even in a coma.

Maybe he thought there was a chance...and judging by his actions, he did think there was a chance of recovery. But maybe, just maybe after five or six years he realized, like most of the doctors in the case have realized, that her condition is PERMANENT.
I agree with you. Because there was no written consent, she should be turned over to the parents, provided they take care of her in their home, with their money along with what's left of her settlement, which apparently is not much.
If I recall correctly they have asked to be allowed to do just that without the rest of the settlement.

Who is trying to start a flame war? All of those posts are nothing more than insults for the sake of insults. There is no substance to them. They are transparent attempts to start a flame war. There have been other posts to me on this thread were insulting, but at least they hid their insults behind something of substance. Since I came on this thread I've been attacked by so-called supporters of Terri. Some people have at least provided information, but most of you are just rude and insulting. It's obvious you're running on pure emotion, with nothing to back up your flimsy opinions.
You have been provided with ample evidence to refute every single claim you have made about Terri and her case and have insulted those of us most interested in finding a way to help her stay alive. You have not provided any substance to support your contentions while some of us have honestly tried to educate you on the elements you obviously have not researched; if indeed you are legitimately interested in Terri's welfare. I seriously suspect because of your approach that your interests do not lie in preserving her life but hastening her death and therefore further dialog with you is pointless.
We've had a rash of major fights on this issue recently. Some involve long-term FReepers, of whom a very few are pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, etc. Others just blow up because of misunderstandings, late nights, and (I suspect) having drink taken. Although I feel strongly about the question, I don't be involved in anything like that; fights with FRiends are no fun.
Then there are the new people signing on, who are either real-live trolls or just 16-year-olds who've been fed a "right-to-die" agenda in the schools and don't have the reading comprehension skills to take in any new information. For these, a ZOT is always an appropriate response. Smell the ozone, feel the love!

How have I insulted anyone? By calling people ignorant? No, wait, it was the other way around. Maybe it was when I called for someone to be zotted because they supported Terri's right to decide her own fate. No, that was the other way around too. It's no wonder you can't win anyone over to your way of thinking.
