I, like many others, had a knee jerk "typical lib" reaction when one of his decsions was in the news last week. I am still not sure I agree with this decision.
I will say this however, everyone has had nothing but good things to say about Judge Barnes. Defense Attorneys and Prosecutors, alike. The opinions were sincere.
They all say he was good at what he did, he did what he thought was right and he was one of the good buys.
I'm taking those opinions into consideration, as should you.
He went on the superior court bench long after I stopped practicing law. I don't know him personally and don't think I was ever in his courtroom.
But I don't care if he was more liberal than Teddy Kennedy . . . NOBODY deserves to die like this. NOBODY.
Last month, a defendant appeared before him who had beaten and shaken a 5-week-old child to death. He let her off with probation and a sterilization order.
One or two on this thread are upset by my posts. But all I am doing is pointing out facts.
Not even the most liberal activist judge deserves to be gunned down in his own courtroom (or anywhere, for that matter). The reason we are against liberal activist judges is because we respect the law as written as well as the rule of law, and we are against legislating and social engineering from the bench. It's hypocritical to even suggest that the murder of a liberal judge is any less tragic or more justified than any other judge, for those who profess to respect the rule of law.
