No, what I think most people are getting at is that this perp was accused of a very violent crime and last week was caught trying to bring a shiv into the court room and was not restrained in any way as not to give the jury an impression that he is guilty.

That is probably incomplete information. He has already been tried once on the charge and it ended with a hung jury. Also, is it known what sort of weapon he tried to bring into the court room? Was it assumed that he wasn't trying to smuggle it in but just forgot it?

I read way up on the thread that it was some kind of knife in his shoe and someone else posted the charges against him with the backgroud. He held the girlfriend for 4 days repeatedly raping her until she managed to escape.

I also am very curious as to why the jury was hung, though.
