Just the usual idiots shooting at each other over drugs. Happens all the time.

I have family there. The folks I've met in the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia are great! I'd rather have a grounded Southerner by my side than an elitist Northerner any day of the week, whatever the challenge.

Excuse me while I slip into my flameproof suit.

Shots fired in Memphis? Nothing out of the ordinary; just an everyday occurrence in the once fine city of Memphis.

Come on, if it can be linked to involving the President then its news. lf it is a random crime shooting don't blow it out of proportion.

The Peabody was nice, Gibson Guitar Factory, ball park. All very nice. The Peabody Plaza (or whatever it's called) had not been completed by the time we moved. The Pyramid, on the other hand, was pathetic. Parking was awful, access to the other downtown sites was poor. And I still don't get the appeal of Mud Island.

Appeal? Neither does any one else. People stay away in droves. If the city is in such debt they should shut it down.

The Peabody Hotel is one of my favorites. If you need good valet parking service, ask for Marvin.

Shots Fired Near Peabody
Posted: 3/10/2005 11:49:24 PM

There was a big scare in Downtown Memphis Thursday night; shots were fired near the Peabody Hotel where President Bush is staying.

It all started when officers spotted a young man who looked suspicious. They started following him, and that’s when the 17-year-old took off. Officers followed him, and caught up to him near AutoZone Park. They arrested the teen. The boy told officers he was just stealing stereos from cars, and he said he had no idea that President Bush was even in town.

Secret Service agents were put on alert however they were never involved.

Southerners seem to like that sorta 'do. Hm, I take a little offense to that. I agree that mullets are ugly, but they're not exclusive to the South. I've seen Canadians with mullets, Mexicans, French and Indians, too--not to mention a few Hollywood celebrities.

The last time I was at the Peabody to see the ducks, they still had mountain oysters on the menu. Hmmmm, good!
