If and when a given mosque is a place of recruitment, incitement, and/or fund-raising, then this is as it should be. Such people, if and when watched, will not have been watched for "being Muslim" but for associating with terrorists or terror-funders, like I said.
That said, I doubt it occurs as much as you say, or even as much as it ought to. I wonder what actual evidence you have for your claims, if any.

I think you're wrong and I reject this characterization. Your single point of dubiously-interpreted anecdotal evidence is underwhelming.
Airport security, in particular "stopping" people, is randomized by computer, utterly brainless. If you are flagged on one leg of your trip, you're flagged on the other. I've been stopped and flagged at airports, take off shoes & belt, unpack bags, the works. I do not look Arabic in the least. There, my anecdote cancels out yours. So what the hell is your point?
Remember, you wrote to me in response to my surprise that the fatwa, or someone, thinks that the US response to 9/11 was "disproportionate". But even if all of these claims you are making were true, which they are not, none of them would be "disproportionate". Are you seriously claiming otherwise?
Your Orthodox Jew friend was stopped and wanded at an airport and this to you is evidence of a "disproportionate response to 9/11"? Get real.
