In the fevered early days after their world spun off its axis and raced off to deep space, the Looney Left desperately sought to explain W's re-election. Most of them screamed "election fraud!" and many of those fell under the spell of one Bev Harris. This blogging Pied Piper claimed credentials sufficient to expose the insidious right wing plot to hijack the country forever through rigged electronic voting machines. She made big promises and convinced many to contribute funds to the effort to "save" democracy. She didn't deliver.
It's no surprise these red meat lefties would fall for this charlatan. These are the paranoid of the paranoid and the angry of the angry. And like a drowning man thrashing about before going down the third time, they grabbed on to Harris.
For your gloating enjoyment, courtesy of DU, here is what you get when the light finally comes on for the Looney Left:

So what ever became of the money Bev Harris collected on DU?
How much did she collect? Where did all her evidence go? Did she ever file any lawsuits? I haven't heard anything about her since December!

15. Non Profits don't file taxes...
Well perhaps they do. However, based on the performance of BBV not filing and paying my federal 941 and unemployment taxes. Don't hold your breath.
I am still waiting on my W4 forms. The Board of Directors says I have the records for that...but hmmm I never wrote a single paycheck...and I have everyone of my pay stubs to show taxes were being taken out. So instead of filing my taxes early and getting the much needed tax refund...I am having to file a complaint with the IRS over BBV.orgs failure to file 941 reports.
Additionally...if BBV.org had paid my unemployment taxes I most likely could be getting unemployment right now...and not have to depend solely on donations to make ends meet. But thats ok...Bev and the org is sitting on close to a million dollars right now. Money I hope she chokes on. Sorry...I am not feeling to friendly right now. [To compound things for this guy, he's currently quite ill with cancer. There are multiple threads on DU inquiring about his health and wishing him well]

Edit: Plus Bev said if I disclosed them I would be in a lot of trouble...something about a cease and desist order. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA From the Queen of Cease and Desist

There is probably a state filing requirement as well, but those are usually summary information.Unfortunately, they can get a very long extension period for filing.
Failure to pay payroll taxes is one of the few things that can land Directors in very hot water. No wonder their pointing their fingers at you. That stinks.

Edited on Tue Mar-08-05 08:37 PM by ohio_liberal Do you mean W2? A W4 is a tax withholding form you fill out when you are first employed. If it's a W2 you're waiting for, they were legally required to mail them by Jan 31.
Edited to add that I'm flabbergasted BBV did not file or pay their quarterly federal tax returns. They won't be in business for long...

It reminds me of a quote from Emerson but I can't find it right now.
It goes something like this; (If I find it later, I'll edit.)
"Do not say things for what you do towers over you the while so I cannot hear what you say."
Translation; Actions speak louder than words. [Yeah, try quoting Emerson when you meet with the IRS. They'll love it!]

8. many democrat sites raise $$$$
I fear many supposedly "Democratic" sites are using our active involvement in the new politics as aa way of subsidizing other "private" interests.
I have given at a few forums and have heard bad things afterards. one is a slightly conservative forum that played nice, then turned on the members and another is a Dem forum raising cash for their site. The administrators claimed poor.......needed help. the whole "we are a community" thing.
I want to know a site for a while before I give again. I have watched here for a long time and am thinking of donating....ONLY....to long standing sites like this one as opposed to the start ups.
As far as Bev goes..... I saw here panhandling at many sites...and I mean many. I have only begun to post. I watch, mostly. this seems like a place to hang me hat.

36. I dunno
but when I tried to point out the absurdities many times here on DU they were on me like vultures. All at once. A whole organised team with very low post counts suddenly appeared.
They were "disgruntled Democrats" who were searching through garbage bags the result of which was--well nothing but they then tried to spin it into the greatest discovery ever in the quest to prove election fraud.
Who were those people?
Then, they were saying that Harris was under a lot of stress when it was becoming obvious she was nothing more than a circus clown. Then it morphed into something else--she really did do a lot of good but was under a lot of stress so in the end collapsed.
She did not do anything but sponge off the efforts of others and never delivered on any of her promises.
People--do not jump on any old bandwagon, no matter how much your dedication and devotion to any one person who posits themself as a champion for the cause and asks for money or for your signature, or who flirts with your very human sense of wanting to "support" those who seem so dedicated to you and the things you believe in, and who you may think is a saint or a saviour and give your hard earned money, or even your hard earned sense of the right thing to do. Develop some sense of critical analysis and critical reasoning and even some healthy skepticism.

Someone should be investigating her. I gave some money right after the election, money I couldn't afford to give. Luckily, as soon as some of our more respected members started bringing up her past (a past I didn't know about), I got suspicious.
Bev's treachery pretty much cooled my enthusiasm for election fraud investigations in general. I still think this should be looked into, but I no longer see election fraud as a "for sure" thing.

Bev and Andy and David and Roxanne and ParanoidPat(?) and DU and many others did (and still do) good work in helping many (most?) people understand the dangers to Democracy posed by these unverifiable voting systems.
Good people are rarely (never) perfect (a rather subjective assessment), but fortunately even imperfect people can contribute to the greater good. Even me and you. I've been around long enough to know that sometimes the folks who step forward to do the right thing at the right time can be fully human (flawed).

we're part of the club now as well - the person we worked with, after we concieved of the project, lined up all the contacts all over the country, esp in Washington, paid every cent we had into the project, a majority of the film's production and enjoying her numerous trailers (even on her own site) that said, "Takebackthemedia.com PRESENTS") decided to slap her own copyright on OUR FILM (by OUR, I mean a 50/50% split) and run off with it..
She's showing it along with Bev Harris to more suckers and embarrassing us, and herself if she had any shame, and in my opinion it's outright theft..
SO you see, birds of a feather stick together..
we could use donations for legal help to get our film back, but I'd feel bad asking for help when Andy needs it to save his LIFE..
Maybe we could all form a group and go after the charlatans in our midst..
We've ALL been witnesses to each other being ripped off - might work - Could call it TAKEBACKTHEMONEY.COM and host it a Takebackthemedia.com
Just keep the word out so that they sink themselves I guess..
I HATE being conned, and now it's happened more than ONCE to me,
didn't think I was that stupid.
Welcome to the Sucker Club, I guess,
Get Better Andy, if I had it in my power to raise money for you I would - might be time to think of others and try and help you, LIFE is so much more important than these creeps.
best to you all,

Yes, you too can have Bev Harris speak to you for ONE LOW PRICE!
Keppler Speakers
http://www.kepplerassociates.com/speakers/harrisbev.asp...
Bev Harris
Investigative Journalist
While authoring Black Box Voting, the groundbreaking book about the secret voting industry, Harris interviewed hundreds of witnesses, including election officials and even voting machine programmers who work directly for the firms that build these machines. It was Harris who discovered 40,000 secret voting system files on the Internet (from Diebold Election Systems), a massive security breach. These files have now been studied by computer scientists around the world, and have resulted in at least four scientific studies identifying "stunning, stunning security flaws."
Harris instigated the first multi-state consumer litigation against unauditable and untrustworthy voting systems. This 53-year old grandmother challenged secretaries of state with court injunctions, and has been fighting the large multinational corporations that dominate voter registration and vote-counting, on consumer protection, false advertising, and false claims charges.
Her fee is $6500 + local expenses. (I called). To be fair, she does pay her own air fare, or rather, donors are paying her air fair, so let's not be fair.
(Keppler would get part of her fee, I'm guessing 20%)
