You obviously don't know how dangerouns mercury is. One time my teacher told me a story about a kid that cracked open a container with mercury in it and played with it in his hands and rolled it around. By the end of the night he was dead.

I've done the same thing many times, to no ill effect.
Mercury is highly toxic, but slight exposure for limited periods is NOT deadly.

I'll bet that 9 out of 10 people over age 40 had played with mercury at least once as a kid. I wouldn't drink the stuff, but it sure isn't *that* risky.
With all these recent mercury scare stories I wonder if someone's trying to drive the price of it down so they can corner the market or something!

Yeah, I heard that story too. The kid was hit by a car, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, but we are speaking about the fright factor of nonsense, not the weight of a truck that probably ran over your sick friend. Ahem.

In fact, I had several teachers tell me with a straight face that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree, and then...
Not sure if the teacher sold you a bill of goods, but they certainly told a story.
And, yes I HAVE worked with mercury, in the class room, in labs, and in amateur gold recovery from my sluiced & panned concentrates.

By the end of the night he was dead. What is the punch line. Was he hit by a car, struck by lightning, or given your screen name, shot by 'revenoors'.

Dixie, do NOT heat liquid mercury and breathe the fumes. That is what is dangerous. You can swallow liquid mercury with no side effects.
Now if you want people to stop fishing, then you scream about the dangers of mercury in fish.

One time your teacher fed you a line of BS. Mercury is dangerous but it takes more than that. Or ...perhaps I am dead!
