They have a pretty cheap group insurance plan they can buy into if they want.
One question also is why is health care so expensive that it is out of reach for so many? Its another example of a controlled industry where you have to know someone on the inside to even get into medical school. Then if you are one of the few who is allowed in, you have to jump through a regulatory and legal minefield just to treat people.
The answer isn't to reform retail which is one of the dwindling actually free areas of our economy. Its to go after all of these other fields, that with their protectionism and regulation are impovershing millions of people who aren't fortunate enough to be on the inside.

The free market has worked well for us. Nations that are protectionist or have gone socialist have fallen by the wayside as we have advanced.
As ironically it seems we are now going, more socialism and regulation by the day.
Uhm...no. Health care is not that expensive if you want it. I started looking into it when I was approached with a couple of contract jobs that didn't offer benefits. Plans for myself, my wife and 2 children ranged from $120 to $870 a month, depending on what type of coverage and deductibles. I figure in my present job they are taking out about $400 a month for our HMO...which I hate...I liked the old PPO I was on with my last employer and they only took $80 per paycheck...but I digress.
Point is, there is coverage out there if you want it. Emergency care is always provided...problem with the costs is not "the insiders" as you mentioned. It is the bloodsucking lawyers that have driven up the cost of malpractice insurance, automobile insurance, business insurance...pretty much ANY insurance you want to buy is astronomical because of over the top lawsuits and awards handed out by juries. But this is a whole other subject.
