Tradition has it that it was Peter who asked to be crucified upside down. I doubt though that the Romans cared enough to accomodate him.

Andrew, according to tradition, was hung on a cross with ropes not nails and it took him several days to die.

I thought that was the origin of the Saint Andrew's cross?
