So they waited until he actually raped the girl to go get him?
He may have initiated the sex when they contacted him. They were still probably trying to find him.
They may have thought it was BS when he said it. I doubt that if they knew he was going to do what he did they'd just sit there.
What's odd is that this was not the FBI. They work these kind of cases all the time. All they have to do is go into some chat room as "Michelle/10" and they will have all sorts of devoids hitting on them. I know, I watched them do a live demonstration once. It's sickening. I'm amazed that the FBI agents that work this stuff don't go insane.
I have a sugegstion as to what should be done with this devoid but I won't post it here.
Until a crime is committed there is no crime. In a case like this it doesn't seem right but you shouldn't be able to arrest someone for saying he's going to do something....If you can catch him making preparations, that may be another issue.
The best solution is to make the punishment so heinous (and public) that no one would ever commit the crime.
That's freaking me out! I read the article over SEVERAL times because I couldn't believe what I was reading. My Lord, what hell did the girl go through, and what about her parents?????? I'm surprised the USSS had to alert the RECI unit about this. Detective Rick Sweeney, from the RECI unit, arrested the creep and he is usually hanging out in all the perv chat rooms. I can't say Sweeney is one of my favorite people but if this guy did this, kudos to Detective Sweeney for getting him.
