This is the very reason that in Texas after we wash our cats and dry 'em in the microwave to get 'em fluffy, we put those suckers in our saddle bags to wait for the next brush fire.

The fluffy ones are great to beat out brush fires, but you don't want 'em getting close to a gun!
They'll blow you away every time!

I keep a loaded gun around but I keep the chamber empty. Having to chamber a round is a solid safety feature especially important for you Glock types.

He also could have left it cocked with the safety off. My Beretta dosen't have a grip safety, only a two stage trigger. If it's dropped when loaded and cocked and the trigger hits an object just right, it could discharge just as easily as a cocked revolver would. Moral of the story: NEVER leave a loaded, cocked gun lying around.
