If I saw a dude walking a cat, I would definitely be attracted to him.If I saw a dude walking a cat, I'd give him plenty of room and avoid making direct eye contact.

I have four kids and two cats. Never had any problems with the kids eating things from the litter box because I WATCHED MY CHILDREN. I never left them by themselves in the same room as the litter box.
You just have to be smarter than the cats, children, and litter box.

At the risk of repeating a theme since I am not reading every post here....
"Dog" people who make statements like that are basically saying something like this:
"I may not ever go faster than 65 mph, but I like knowing I have the ability; don't you just love my Ferrari!"
Truth is, so many people get absolutely no "use" out of dogs, either! ;-)

We are extremely grateful for your response. This male cat is 16 years old. We took him to the vet last week and we got the female partner to our regular vet. Our regular vet is Chinese - Dr. Chen and he's quite remarkable. I wasn't really happy with the female vet. A few years ago, the cat did have a urinary tract infection and we noticed it when he urinated in odd places with some blood showing. The vet's office told him to bring him in right away, which we did and it was taken care of. While we realize Rubo is an older cat, we want to do what we can for him and see that he's not in pain. So we are taking him to the vet, but I want Dr. Chen to see him. My husband found Rubo years ago when he was driving in a blizzard and poor little kitten, Rubo, was sitting at the side of the road. My husband pulled over and by the time he got out of the car, Rubo the kitten had managed to make his way threw the snow to my husband. My husband picked him up and took him into the car, where he promptly curled up in my husband's lap. We took him to the vet and they gave us medication for pneumonia, ear mites, etc. Beloved Rubo - he's given us much love over the years and it's been returned. God bless you for caring and thanks for your advice.

Many, many thanks for the link, but we could not bring it up. We're taking the cat back to the vet to see if they can get a urine test. Thank you again!

"My dogma could eat your karma for breakfast!"
Just don't try that line with Siegfried and Roy. They have some felines that would eat you and your dog.

I...love...kitties. You are most welcome, and I hope that my information was helpful. Obviously your kitty is a senior citizen, and they require more care than younger kitties. I have had many cats, and all have had problems at one time or another. What I have found as my kitties get older is that is very important to have urine and blood samples taken at least once a year. If you can catch things early you have a much better chance of correcting the problem, as well as spending less money.
Any being that gives love and comfort to another is invaluable. Of course giving them the best care that you can is part of loving them back. If your kitty does have a tendency toward urinary problems, or even if he is having late in life kidney problems, which is common in older cats, he will benefit mightily from having a fresh source of water. Cats prefer to drink perfectly clean, cold water. For my older boy (who is twelve), we bought a kitty drinking fountain. You can buy then for about 40.00 at any pet store, and they constantly cycle and filter the water. My kitty was so picky about his water that he would not drink much unless it was perfect. It has helped him a lot in reducing his urinary PH, which has helped reduce his urinary tract infections as well as any odor that accompanies strong acidic urine. Additionally, many urinary problems can be helped through diet. I'm sure the vet you trust can advise you on that.
You must be married to a wonderful man. It takes a special kind of person to go out of their way to help a struggling innocent. Bless you both for providing your kitties with such a loving home.

"poor little kitten, Rubo, was sitting at the side of the road. There you go, that's a good cat, right there. Great animals seek you out and pick you, not the other way around!

I can't stand when somebody tells me that their cat learned something new, or how cute their dog was being the other day. THIS is the modern day Egyptian cat-worshipping.I can always tell what sort of day my friend Kami's had with her english bulldog, Jack, when she calls me... If Jack's been good, she'll gush about how wonderful "mamma's little boy" is... If he's been bad, the conversation begins with, "Do you know what YOUR dog did today?"
That's Kami, in the middle, with Fred the Viking Kitty (thinking "just a little closer... closer..."), and Jack (thinking "Fred looks so friendly... I wonder if he wants to play!")

So, how annoying was this post? :-)

Those analogies are lame. A much better one is that its like wearing pants in public. Sure, it'll keep your "gun" out of sight, but if you see a hot babe and need to use it in a hurry, you gotta fumble with belt, button, zipper, briefs, etc. to put it in action. "Gun" access is extremely important, and if you gotta cover it up, may as well cut it off. Real men walk around buck naked from the waste down!
