Christianity went through this stage too. A lot of the early church fathers had some pretty misogynistic things to say about women. And let's not get into the crusades, the inquisition, and the catholic/protestant holy wars of Europe.

I'm sorry, comparing Christian HISTORY to Islamic PRESENT makes no sense. Christianity- like most religions, evolved and is compatible with modern civilization.
Islam is not, does not want to be, and is-in fact- trying to take the rest of civilization back to the dark ages where it has REMAINED. Comparing Christian/other religions pasts to Islam's present is disingenuous at best.
Islam has no more place in modern civilization than any other brutal, barbaric 'religion' that worshipped blood and death and are now history. Disemboweling and human sacrifice would not be tolerated under the guise of 'religion' now. Why do some feel Islam must be tolerated just because they use modern(in some instances) methods? The Koran demands blood and death as plainly as an High Priest did in the past.
