Some common sense! And lest those without it forget, Christianity did some pretty awful things in the name of religion too.
How many times did Jesus go on punitive military raids against other other people?
An objective analysis of Mohammed (and Islam) begins as
far back as Edward Gibbon (died 1794) who in his last
volume of Decline and Fall describes Mohammed as an
illiterate, probably epileptic, barbarian. The jihad was
part and parcel of his religion and he personally led
jihads against Christians and Jews. He lived from c.570 -
632 A.D. and launched Islam on its crusade of rapine and
conquest by the sword. Christians have certainly had
episodes of persecution and wars of religion in their
history -- but none that can compare in scope or
intensity to Islam. And -- one CRUCIAL DIFFERENCE:
When Christians were intolerant they were BETRAYING the
precepts of their founder - Jesus. Islamists, however,
are being TRUE to the behaviour of their founder -
Mohammed. It's not mere happenstance that these realities
of the past hold true in the present. For example, the
only countries today where slavery (condoned by Mohammed)
still exists are Islamic -- Sudan, Mauretania, etc.
It's understandable that many are inclined to simply
assume that there is moral equivalence among all religions
but the not-so-politically-correct FACTS OF HISTORY
prove that such is specious reasoning.
Well at least Christianity cleaned itself up!
