Model Petra Nemcova says she still talks to boyfriend Simon Atlee months after the Indian Ocean tsunami nearly killed her and swept away the British photographer.
"I talk to Simon, I write to him," Nemcova told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in a special episode of "Primetime Live" airing Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET.

The Asian Tsunami was an emmense tragedy. We all pray for its victims.
But how does Diane Sawyer get these kinds of interviews?
(ABCNews.com typo on home page evident at 1:52 am PST).
Everybody makes mistakes. How is the track record of the copy editors at the Big 3?

Okay, that's just cool that Diane Sawyer can actually speak with the dead on live TV. Now, if Dan Rather could score an interview from beyond the grave, maybe he could regain some credibility. Or not...

Also, the story is listed under the heading "Politics." I guess that's fitting since the Tsunami was Bush's fault.

Model Petra Nemcova lost the love of her life and was killed herself when the massive Indian Ocean tsunami struck Asia. I just saw her on TV yesterday and she's very much alive. LOL

She has a number of producers (like Mary Mapes for Rather) working the phones on her behalf, or in cases like this, making in-person calls. Sometimes the Talking Head will call to close the deal.
Same for Katie, Barbara, etc. As the success of their work becomes obvious, it feeds on itself, and they get more interviews, so they get more interviews, so they get......
In this case, it was probably easy. Start with the agent and work way up the chain.

Diane Sawyer probably gets her high profile celebrity interviews because her husband, Mike Nichols, is one of the most powerful directors in show business. Doesn't hurt Sawyer (or Baba Wawa, or Katie C.), that they move in the same social circles as the people they interview.

I am more than a little surprised at the lack of sympathy for this beautiful young model. She endured horrific injuries while using superhuman strength to hold on during the tsunami.
She lost her boyfriend, whose body was found only in the past few days.
Are we so unfeeling because she is young, rich, and beautiful?
Did she deserve what happened to her?

I don't think it is a lack of sympathy for what happened to this 'model'. It is a lack of respect for her obviou$ ca$hing in on the tragedy. Or do you think $he is going to gain or lo$e future income from thi$ expo$ure?
To: NHResident
Oh my, making money, another sin!
