Bush, Clinton Say Their Bond Exemplary

By NEDRA PICKLER

ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) -

George H.W. Bush once called Bill Clinton and his running mate the "two bozos." Clinton once called Bush "personally untrustworthy." But you'd never know it now by seeing the two traipsing together around the globe.

With their 1992 campaign a distant memory and the partisanship of 2004 behind them, former Presidents Bush and Clinton appear like old buddies.

"He beat me and made me unemployed," Bush said of Clinton in an interview Tuesday with Associated Press Television News. "And needless to say, when that happened I wasn't the most happy guy in the world. But then after that, why, we have had a pleasant relationship."

Bush and Clinton returned to the Oval Office on Tuesday to present the current President Bush with a report on donations for tsunami relief. The president asked the two to encourage Americans to donate to the cause, and they teamed up for a joint public service announcement and a tour of four countries devastated by the Dec. 26 disaster.

After the former presidents stopped by the White House, they were flying together to Florida to play in an 18-hole fund-raising tournament organized by golfer Greg Norman. Clinton planned to golf even though he's scheduled for surgery Thursday to remove a buildup of fluid and scar tissue from his chest.

Bush said if Clinton is hurting, he didn't display any sign of it during their trip to the Indian Ocean region. He playfully called his former rival the "Energizer bunny."

"He was going a mile a minute, I can attest to that," Bush told APTN.

"No," Clinton said, "I can't keep up with him."

Both former presidents told APTN that their cooperation has been a good example for the people in the countries they visited.

"American politics can be tough, elbows out, but it is also something bigger than that," Bush said. "No matter whether you are Democrat or Republican, it is something bigger and that is helping others."

Clinton said some people they met overseas said a reunion of former political rivals would never happen where they live.

"We said, `Why sure it could, have you ever tried?'" Clinton said. "Not to say differences don't matter, not to say you shouldn't have political arguments, but I think if we remembered our common humanity it would make our politics work better."

I personally can't understand why anyone would be in the same room with Clinton. I wouldn't cross the street to see him. I'm not sure what the recent Bush love affair with this sexual creep and pervert is all about. All they're doing is giving this sleeze ball a legitimacy that he doesn't deserve.

It's getting to the point where I wish they'd BOTH go away.

"Bush, Clinton Say Their Bond Exemplary"

And why not? At times it seems the 'Opposition' and partisanship displayed by the Pols is for the consumption of the unwashed - A charade to keep up the appearance of real choice in any election. :-(

. I wouldn't cross the street to see him

I walked several blocks out of my way to AVOID being close to him, and that was when he was running for president the first time.

"I wouldn't cross the street to see him. [Clinton]"

I'll see your bet and raise you - I wouldn't take money to shake his hand (Who knows where that hand has been)

I'm going to take the Freudian approach here. Bush Sr. must be a good daddy, look at the boy he raised. Clinton never had a real father worthy of the name (if he had, I don't believe he would have turned out to be a crook).

It may be that Clinton sees Bush Sr. as the father figure he never had. Look at the fact that he has a significant health problem, yet he slept on the floor of their aircraft. Think about that. With Bubba's ego? There's more going on here than just a political explanation, I suspect.

Of course, having said that, if I were Bush, I would still check my wallet every time Clinton left the room.

Let's not forget - Bush 1 wasn't the greatest president we've had. He doomed himself with the infamous "no new taxes", gave us the homo lefty Souter, and treated the presidency like one big stint as country club prez.

I'll not ever forget or forgive slick willie calling President Bush a liar, every single day, at every single campaign stop.

I'll not ever forget or forgive slick willie never referring to our president as President Bush.
