Alexandria, VA; March 7, 2005. The Pro-life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians (PLAGAL) applauds State Rep. Brian Duprey of Maine for his introduction of a bill that will prohibit abortion on unborn children who are gay. "We recognize that at this time the gay gene has not been isolated, but with all the advances of genetics we believe that it may just be a matter of time," says Jackie Malone, Executive Vice President of PLAGAL.
PLAGAL maintains that if the theory of a gay gene is proven and isolated, then the day will not be far off when a test for the predisposition of homosexuality will be developed. Once medical science achieves that ability, it will be possible to do by a legal, surgical procedure what all homophobes and gay bashers throughout history have tried and failed to do -- to eliminate gays and lesbians once and for all.
"Abortion tries to get rid of real human beings who are threatening or undesirable. All the unborn should be respected just because they are human," states Cecilia Brown, President of PLAGAL. She adds "Children are routinely aborted now because of gender or disability, it is not inconceivable to see people aborting because of a possible gay gene."
State Rep. Brian Duprey has an excellent record of supporting legislation that protects the unborn. PLAGAL is glad to see that he will continue the fight for the unborn even in the case of sexual orientation. PLAGAL would like to point out that "gay rights" has nothing to do with socalled "abortion rights." PLAGAL doesn't base the value of human beings on the results of a genetic test. Such tests do not define or undermine each individual's humanity. Gay, straight, male, female, or physically challenged -- all are human beings that deserve every chance for life.

I know there are some FReepers that think this Maine bill is stupid, but I think it's great - the liberal press doesn't want to touch this because it's a Democrat wedge issue - and, the irony is that, it's also a FReeper wedge issue --- It's still a great bill!
"Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians Supports Bill to Prohibit Abortions of Gay Unborn Babies"
Why do we need to know that they're homosexuals? Can't they just walk down to their local Right-to-Life headquarters like any other concerned Americans, roll up their sleeves, and help the cause without telling us they're homosexuals? I'm so tired of hearing about their perversions as part of their nametags.
How would they know the babies will be gay? I think its been proven its not a gene inherited.
It promotes life. Thats more than good enough for me.
It promotes *some* life, not all. It further creates a protected class of homosexuals.
On the plus side it drives a wedge between two huge Democrat groups -- feminists and homosexuals. What's not to like there?
lol. i love bills like this, i really, really do.
Attempts to legitimize non-existent "gay gene". Science is being bastardized in favor of political ideology.
Once the "gay gene" is isolated, the next step is to demand that babies possessing these genes be raised in a "homosexual friendly" environment.
This bill does not promote life. Note that it says nothing about prohibiting abortion of normal heterosexual babies. It means a person is allowed to abort normal babies, but shall not be allowed to abort homosexual babies (if such a thing even exists).
Its a beginning. And a clever one at that. It begs the question: If its good enough for homosexuals, why not heterosexuals as well?
Liberals may not be against gay babies, but they might not wish to be the parents of gay babies if they have their choice. (Not that babies actually do anything that indicates that they are gay, or act upon those inclinations with the other babies ...)
TS
This means parents should check the "for birth control" box instead of the "because it is gay" box on the application.....
I want you all to think in terms of Politics and political strategy.
There isn't a gay gene. This bill is about making a statement.
"How would they know the babies will be gay? I think its been proven its not a gene inherited."
It is more likely a congenital condition, due to exposure to an anomalous hormonal or chemical environment in the womb.
The DES daughters are much more likely to be lesbian than usual. Girls born with CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia) are also more likely to be lesbian.
There are a large number of drugs, which could have an influence on the way the brain develops.
I understand the statement, but I also understand this sword has two edges. The homosexual groups will attempt to use it as proof on a non-scientific "gay gene" in the absense of scientific proof - it will become ipso facto proof because they know that science can not prove what is not true, but law can introduce the concept giving it credibility. This is chess, not checkers; people must thing 4-5 moves ahead.
PLAGAL - Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians - I'm shocked that there's even such a group! Pro-life gays? Who da thunk it!
I wonder if punster the magnificent here with [his/her?] all knowing vast knowledge and expertise in the field of homosexuality can explain to the rest of us how the "twin study" failed to debunk this alleged "anomalous hormonal or chemical environment in the womb" that's responsible for homosexuality?
