Okay, I'll buy that.

The bottom line is this: The federal government DOES NOT want to solve the illegal problem. And the USBP is an arm of the federal government. The lower wages paid to illegals keep inflation in check. Even the financial guru Alan Greenspan testified that if illegal labor were halted/decreased without a commensurate increase in productivity, the United States could not compete with the Chinese and Indian economies. So BOTH parties, Republicans and Democrats, want it to continue, hence they are sitting on their duffs. The USBP agents and "technology" are just props, part of the show that is being put on to fool the American taxpayer. It's all a charade. They government is stupid but not THAT stupid: if they really wanted to plug the influx of illegals it would have been done already. So I wouldn't get too excited about Rush talking about this now, so early in the election cycle. The chances are pretty good that this issue will die and fall off of his radar screen closer to election time since NOBODY has the political wall to REALLY tackle it. Unfortunately the border problem will not be solved during our lifetime.

With public outcry against the type of immigrants entering the country illegally, we will see continuing efforts to control the border expand to meet the sentiment of the people. We will not see an end to immigration due to our governments attempt to import cheap labor to offset global competition. The trick is to restrict the rapists, murderers, terrorists, and those who only wish to receive compensation from our government without contributing to the economy. As the illegals flood our cities and the ability of the city or state governments to absorb them fails and that city or state begins a path to deficits they cannot recover from without major tax increases and cuts to state and local programs, the legal citizens will feel the impact and the anti-immigration sentiment will grow into a roar. The other situation that may occur is a terrorist attack on one of our major cities that eventually gets tracked back to an illegal entry into the U.S. through Mexico or even Canada causing a public uproar and if in close timing with local, state, or national elections, the condition of being elected by the citizens might only happen if they were running on a political platform demanding immediate and drastic changes to out border security. As events in the war on terror unfold, they will determine some of the political agenda of politicians. If no terror strikes occur, the citizens will not rise to the occasion and focus on other issues of personal concern.
