Someone needs to be arrested alright and we can start with the police captain. The fact that a captain was there with the patrol officer means they got a complaint and had time to think it through. I had some idiot steal a check from my office and try to cash it for $10K and even though the police have the name and address of the individual, they don't have time to follow up.

Don't feel bad, we have that problem in Texas too. After my house was burglarized, the perp told them where he traded the guns for drugs. The police told us it was a "known drug house", but they never followed up on the lead, haven't heard from them since.

Tell me about it... A friend's house was burglarized, and some of her checks were stolen (as well as a whole lot of other stuff, including her computer). She reported all this to the cops. The thiefs continued to use her MSN account (where they should have been able to find the IP address and location of the house where the computer was being used! Law enforcement CAN get court orders for that sort of thing), and (here's the "best" part)... The moron who burglarized her house and stole some checks decided to use her checking account to make direct payments to pay some of his utility bills! I'm not kidding here... Isn't that wire fraud, a federal crime? Well, she couldn't get the police OR THE BANK to do anything about it, other than closing that account number and crediting back her account! The police said it was a bank issue, and the bank said that the police had to take care of it!

IN THE MEAN TIME, THEY'VE GOT THE NAME AND HOME ADDRESS OF THE CRIMINAL, AND HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! And this June, it will have been a year!
