Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather's predecessor at the "CBS Evening News," said Monday that Rather's replacement by Bob Schieffer was overdue.

Back in 1987 when Rather walked off the set on the air to protest CBS preempting the Evening News for a tennis match, Cronkite said that Rather should have been fired.

Rather was always jealous of Dan. Rather had buyers remose about the timing of his departure. Too late he realized he could have stayed on and continued is own bias for more years.

If Rather has any integrity left he would have spoken up sooner, but as long as nobody caught the lies Rather was happy to be quiet about the CBS lies.
