Conservative misgivings about Sen. Arlen Specter's rise this year to become chairman of the Judiciary Committee were validated last week. Without consulting the Republican leadership, Specter launched a procedure that undercuts party strategy for confirming President Bush's judicial nominees. Ironically, however, Democrats are so intransigent that not even Specter's temporizing has moderated them so far.

Looks like the Bush Administration just cleared the way for Anthony Kennedy to be US supreme court chief justice

They didn't want to spend all that money on PA fighting for an open seat in a blue state when they needed to spend the money on Senate seats in Florida, North Carolina, and North Dakota, all of which were very close.
Now, I am not saying that it was a good plan or a bad plan, but that was the plan.

Specter holds Santorum's future in his hands. The GOP may have swapped Santorum for Specter.

There was no question Sphicter was a load; we knew it then and we know it now. The failure here is Frist. He opted to go with the loser. We know Sphincter hits with the other side. What we didn't know is that Frist does too. Frist is terrified of Fat Teddy.
Have you ever seen the memos that were on the dems Judiaicary computer? No, because the dems have threatened Frist.
Frist is the most worthless leader we've ever had. He is dumb, spineless and lazy. If he has any thought of "higher" office, he better rethink his plans. Frist is a loser!!!

Frist, dang it... You had the chance to remove this dangerous RINO and you just didn't have the cajones for it. Step down and let a real leader fill the position, would you?

This whole situation with Specter and Santorum is a mess. Somebody sold somebody out and I think the next 18 months to election will tell who is more important here....the problem here with Specter is: Fast Eddie Rendell will replace his seat with someone like Babs H. who just, mysteriously, withdrew her name from running against Santorum, so Little Bobby Casey could have a clean sweep, so if this happens, then NONE of Bush's hopeful Judges will get thru....bad situation all the way around...the name of "Governor Lynn Swann" is sounding better and better every minute of every day!!!!

Frist must resign if Specter stands in the way of a single Bush nominee. Period. He was warned and he put his neck out for RINO Specter. First must take responsibility for this tragic error and resign. Let's see how confirmation of Bush's nominees go now before we tar and feather him and ride him out of town on a rail. But let's get the tar hot and bubbling and the bags of feathers down to the Senate...

[ And why did the Bush Administratio prop up Arlen Specter when he was ripe for toppling in last years primary? ]
Because Arlen privately lied to them...
Republicans believe lies and give benefit of doubt as easily as a 5 year old little girls.. maybe 3 year olds with some pubbies.. Arlen is laughing... and why not.. Bush is not dumb just nieve like his daddy... "Read my lips no new taxes".. then BLAM!.. democrats made him look like Homer Simpson.. DOH!..
