No need to kill 'em. The mother of a coworker humanely traps the cats and turns them over to the humane society. Costs the owners big bucks to retrieve their pets.

We tried this and a person who loves feral animals would open the trap and release the cats.

I had a neigbor in CT that thought he would trap some cats. What he ended up with was a very large, and very angry, raccoon.

I also participate in the humane trapping, rehoming, and most often, euthanasia of feral cats. There are many vets who will volunteer their services to sterilize a feral cat and let them go.

Some years ago, I had several feral cats on my property. So I fed them to gain their trust. One of them was heavy with kitten, so I trapped her- she had five kittens in my garage the next day. All five were hand raised, raised with my dog, and turned out to be the coolest kittens! All went to loving homes. The mother domesticated very easily when she realized what a queen she had become! The kittens cost $30, and that fee went to spaying the mom. After she recovered, I let her go. She didn't go far. She became the most awesome cat in the world. And I struggle with the approaching winter and what to do. The day I decided to introduce her to my indoor family of cats, she was hit by a car... crossing the street when I called her name. I was devestated. Sheena was such a great companion, and I take comfort in knowing that the little time she became part of my life was far better than what she would have had in the wild.

For the record, animals are my most liberal cause. And I'm proud of it!
