Nine Foreign Nationals Arrested in Benefits Investigation

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, along with local law enforcement officers, arrested nine criminal foreign nationals Thursday in Hampton Roads.

Six of the arrested had previous aggravated felony convictions. The remaining three had vanished after an Immigration judge ordered them out of the country.

Officials identified the suspects during an investigation that alleges the nine attempted to obtain various immigration benefits including work authorization, permanent resident status, and naturalization.

Those arrested include:

Tham Tan Vo, a citizen of Vietnam residing in Newport News. Vo was previously convicted of crimes involving carnal knowledge of a child between 13 and 15 years of age.

Selahaddin Kaplan, a citizen of Turkey residing in Williamsburg. Kaplan was previously convicted of crimes involving assault and battery.

Victor Rojas-Duran, a citizen of the Dominican Republic residing in Virginia Beach. Rojas-Duran was previously convicted of crimes involving the possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

Mohammed Zakari, a citizen of Morocco residing in Virginia Beach. Zakari was previously convicted of crimes involving sexual battery.

Schiller Menard, a citizen of Haiti residing in Virginia Beach. Menard was previously convicted of crimes involving the possession and sale of marijuana and the possession of a firearm.

Xue Qi Lin, Sheng Chao Weng, and Xia Ming Wen, all citizens of China residing in Virginia Beach, were previously ordered removed from the United States by an Immigration judge.

All nine suspects have been placed in removal proceedings and will appear before a federal immigration judge.

Don't worry, Immigration judge will site them again, and tell them to come back later for the hearing. Oh, We will be sending a courtesy notice, along with a free box of chocolates.

Earlier this week, two Koreans were arrested. They were working for a contractor at the Northrop Grumman shipyard in Newport News. They're out on bail, (easier to bail out of the area that way).

I bet those guys are finding someone to smuggle them out right now. Hmmmm let me see, $5,000 bond vs 2 years in jail. I think i see them running for the border now! They are faint but i see them in my crystal monitor. ;)

Ahhh, we think alike.

These do show as being in chemical work, but it does not look the same.

I need to go to ElephantinTexas and reread his thread, if you haven't he said that he keeps it on his Freeper home page, the airplane with Chinese on it.

There was also an arrest at Tiajuana, of Chinese that could be these, at the same time.

The reason the story died (according to how I have it figured out), is that there was a radio active shipment, like
by Fed-ex, but somehow it got lost and was setting in a warehouse in Boston, while the Feds went crazy hunting it.

It was found OK, just sitting on a shelf.

It seems to have been a comedy of errors, one of those 2+2=
does not equal 4, or at least it didn't connect with the
Chinese illegals.

Someone at Threat Matrix, caught the lost radioactive package, and posted the info on it......the rest was easy to figure out.

I am assuming that the papers which were left in the taxi at Tiajuana, showed that they were scientist trained and the Feds were sure the package was stolen for them.

Real life is often more twisted than the best fiction plot.
