Thanks for all the pics, grandsons loved them! Did have a hard time explaining road courses to them.

Holding up left hand, "This is left and it is right."

Holding up right hand, "This is right and it is wrong."

This resembles my yard!

Hopefully it's not doing this further south.

Hudsons were pretty hot cars in the early fifties, I believe a Lincoln won as well. Maybe '53??

And, McGriff has GOT to be racing's greatest legend, still racing right up 'till NASCAR got all pretty and profitable.

On the other common note - the whole NEXTEL shift just might kill stock car racing off. Who the hell cares if it is acceptable to the new masses they want to advertise to....so was CART until it croaked.

The Lincoln Zepher(sp) won the last Mexican Road Race in 1955, The first ohv ford v 8 was 1954, The old flat heads were not very powerful.

I like the idea of showroom stock cars racing and you get more development if cars have to be stock.
I can hardly tell the difference between Ford, GMC or Chrysler anymore.

"The first ohv ford v 8 was 1954..."

BUT,
My '53 F100 was delivered with the early truck V8, 256 CI versus the car's 239 CI. Apparently when they burned down the flatties the kicked in the Y-Block early, sort of a "53-and-a-half"

I'm in process of reinstalling the original (now that I am sure that is was the original) in place of the 302 that's lived there the past 10 or so years.

(I think my lincoln recollection was based on the '53 being a prettier car)

While in Armenia, I found a ZIS limo.
It was Berra's personal car.
Berra was Stalin's right hand man.
The car still was on the road and was for sale.
They had changed the original engine and transmission into a Volga engine and tranny.
The owner said He had the originals.
When we looked for the originals, his son admitted he had sold them for about a buck to a junk dealer.

If original the car would be worth at least 6 figures.

It is a bit 'damp'. Started about 3:30 this morning and hasn't let up yet. Water is within an inch of going over my bottom step. There is no yard, there is no road, all just moving water.

Never before has a car sponsor received so much publicity without ever qualifying. :)
