After I am on Free Republic--via Explorer, naturally--and then wish to open the Microsoft Word document from which I "copy" to "paste" here (such as this news story from that excellent newspaper the Aftenposten), well.....

Explorer is open, and I am opening the Microsoft Word document.....

.....and I manage to get one and a half cigarettes smoked while patiently waiting for the Microsoft Word document to open.....

I go back to Explorer (this page), so as to "paste" the document.....

Sometimes I think it would actually be faster, if I were to print the article from its web-site, and then type the whole thing in myself.

Spyware maybe? Try downloading Firefox (www.mozilla.org) and see if that fixes your problem.
