Judge releases DCF document in Schiavo case
Tampa Bay's 10 News ^ | 3/3/2005 | Tampa Bay's 10 News

A judge released the DCF document seeking intervention in the Terri Schiavo case. She's the brain-damaged woman at the center of a "right to die" battle.

The department of children and families document names Michael Schiavo as responsible for the mistreatment of his wife. The nine complaints cited are very technical. They essentially claim the abuse or neglect of Terri is in the form of the kind of medical treatment Terri is, or in some cases is not receiving.

The complaint accuses Michael Schiavo of: 1. Failure to educate using certain therapies in violation of guardianship 2. Experimental procedures performed without proper medical and legal procedures observed. 3. Lack of manipulation of the ward's (Terri’s) arms causing severe contractures

Circuit judge George Greer says he will make the document available to the public tomorrow. Greer ordered Terri Schiavo's feeding tube be removed March 18th.

This judge has set himself up for failure and done it on purpose"""

I'd like to believe that. Can you explain how, specifically, he has done so? Has he issued a ruling that he knows has to be overturned?

By giving them enough time to rally their forces. Senator Sam Brownback spoke about it in the Senate. Florida agencies are getting involved. The public is outraged. Michael Schiavo knows time works against him.

So much for living wills being valid if the state wants to interfere with private matters.

Tell me about Terri's Living Will. I have not heard she had one. It's existence would certainly affect my view of what is right in this case. -m3

So the do gooders save her miserable life....... for what???? Are they going to chip in and pay for her care?? Are they going to bathe her and change her diapers?

Yes, as a matter of fact. The primary "do-gooders" here are her parents who will do for Terri what Mr. Schiavo has refused to do.

Abortion is a privte medical decision, as is euthanasia for whatever reason. How do you feel about these?

This was a typical liberal reaction. They say to pro lifers "Are you going to adopt these children- put your money where your mouth is!" Truth is and- they cannot understand it- yes, prolifers are willing to adopt to prevent abortion and many have done just that and many will come forward to help Terri. Many already have. The liberal thinks care is exclusively a government function that the liberal doesn't have to bother with and does not want to be bothered about. If the government wants to kill someone who is inconvenient, so what? It is the government's responsibility.

The liberal philosophy is also one that says human worth is based upon what a person contributes to society. Er...wrong. Human means worth...period.

You have a twisted view of marriage if you think that it's preferable for a man to divorce his wife than to stick to things and ensure her wishes are honoured.

I see. His 10 years adultery is peachy.

"For all you know, she may be a happier person than yourself. "

YOu are now making an assumption that you know her.......... and nobody knows what she is feeling....... it is all based upon an emotional assumption.

Non sequitur. Your apply is totally wrongheaded. There is no assumption here, just a statement that you do not know and that the facts could be contrary to your own assumption.

and ensure her wishes are honoured.

Why didn't he "remember" until AFTER he got the money? It took him 7 years after her collapse to "remember".

Ypu made your decision for you. Why insist on extending it to someone who has left no record of such a decision and has, indeed, said some things that would indicate a contrary decision? Are you morally uncomfortable with your own provisions? Do you need them to be validated by others to confirm you?

Amen! Maybe we should ignore the trolls. They'll go away faster that way. Go, Terri!!!

I see you have another GREAT OPINION~~!!!

I agree with Your Opinion 1,000,000 percent. YOUR opinion is shared with many, many, many others as well.

I was put in a similar situation in 1989

AHA !

You are bitter about your own wife and you wish she had been killed? Your complaints are all about your ease and the rightness of getting inconvenient people out of your way.

Again you are assuming she has a mind and can reason. Nobody knows. just assumes.

If nobody knows then we should always assume the worst case and kill the patient. Right? Nobody knows, really, whether you are a secret murderer or thief so you should be imprisoned on the possibility that you are?

Living wills in a situation such as you describe are ruly dangerous given the demand for organs fromfreshly killed corpses.

instructions on how to hide you from the do-gooders who would try to block your wishes from being carried out.

I have never heard of "do-gooders" interfering where there is an actual "living will".
