Somerset (AP) State police in Somerset says federal immigration officials refused to pick up 15 illegal aliens stopped by police on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Tuesday, saying it was too snowy to come and get them.
Immigration officials confirmed the decision -- but say they let the illegals go only after all 15 passed a background check.
Corporal Robert Johnson issued a press release reporting the traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon, during which he found 13 Mexicans and two Guatemalans in a vehicle. State police say they aren't allowed to detain the aliens unless they commit a crime -- so they called immigration officials to pick up the aliens.
Ernestine Fobbs, a spokeswoman for the U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau, says the agency didn't want to risk the lives of its staff -- or those of the aliens -- by trying to pick them up during Tuesday afternoon's snow storm.

One thing I know about betting folks without the knowledge of what they're betting on, they're usually fools.
Anyways, I don't expect a favor from anyone in the government. I expect them to do their job and enforce the laws. When they're not, I will write and have written.

Let me get this straight. I get the third degree if I need to go on an airplane, but if someone is running around loose who's not supposed to be in this country under any circumstances, that's OK.

Yep! And heaven forbid it's snowing outside. If you're Caucasian, they would have been on you in two seconds and then some. They would have probably shutdown the entire state to ensure you were apprehended.
Now if you were an illegal, you could act stupid and get away with it.
