Yes,insider trading goes on and so do all manner of other crimes,which I doubt you even know about. Some people get caught;some don't,but crime hurts the general public...which IS why there are laws against committing them. But Martha was not convicted or even accused of "insider trading".
She was convicted of simply lying to Federal investigators. Period. That's it.
The SEC has waited to bring her up on insider trading charges in a
civil suit (that's how it's doe!),until she is done with the
criminal sentence. Her lawyers are now quite busy trying to get the SEC to allow her to sign a paper saying that she isn't contesting the insider trading charges and accept a HUGE fine And a few more wee slaps on the wrist.
And it wasn't "simple lying" at all;she was convicted of lying,perjury,tampering with evidence and conspiracy.
