Meanwhile Klintonoid Franklin Delano Raines completely hoses Fannie Mae's books, jeoprodizes the entire US financial system and walks away with nearly a quarter billion dollars in compensation.

Raines completely hoses Fannie Mae's This guy won't be forgotten. His sweetheart deal had mere 'components' in it that exceeded first year contracts to coveted NBA rookies. His is a case of lib destruction in high places. Books are going to be written about this character. Trust me.
But with Martha, lib 'goddess' though she may be, the fact is this is all the sentence she got. This was all the judge gave out. She served her time. It's done. She should have gotten more than this slap on the wrist. She should have been seriously sentenced, and was not. But this was her sentence. And she's done her time.

Whoa 235. I wouldn't say he completely hosed FNM's books. He played hard and fast with accounting rules (that can be interpreted 7 different ways by 7 different auditors) to smooth earnings & fatten his bonus.
As of now there isn't any outright fraud or two sets of books. I said as of now.
If Fannie went away tomorrow the entire US financial system would not be jeopardized. Many stockholders and a few debt holders would be highly upset, but as long as people make their mortgage payments the financial system will survive.
