I have been a fan of Martha's for many many years. I have learned so much from her TV shows and magazines. In a world full of bad news all the time, her shows were like an island of sanity for me. Everything was perfect as it should be, "it's a good thing". I left my Martha Christmas tree up this year until she is released.
I truly think she got a bum deal simply because of her popularity.
I think the rules on her release are somewhat stupid as was her sentence to begin with. She can visit the horses in the barn on her property but not plant a garden. (do they think she will bury stock tips out there?) She can go to the grocery store, church and work but may not carry a gun. I doubt that Martha ever carried a gun anyway.
She will emerge from this even better than ever, just wait. I only wish I had bought her stock last year when I wanted to. Darn!!
I like her gardening and cooking segments. And, every once in a while, I buy her companies magazines.
Yes, I'm a closet Martha fan.
Today's WSJ was all Martha every section.
Despite her politics, I've been rooting for her. Maybe she'll turn around to the right side.
You say you learned a lot from Martha and was just wondering if you could tell me exactly what you learned. I know I learned to roll my eyes real well for the couple of times I watched her show!
Never liked her, she's a phony. The only thing she's interested in is her precious "empire".
That fellow who wrote a critical book on Martha a few years ago was on Fox this morning....he's a Wall Street insider, and feels Martha's stock is a bubble that will pop. He didn't seem to think her prison stay had humbled her or made her a 'better' person, or that her prison mates would be welcomed to her home/homes anytime soon. Also that the publisher of her magazine has walked.
That was the negative stuff. Others think she'll be bigger and better than ever, plus she'll be back employing all those wonderfully talented people. Her Everyday Food magazine is going great guns in the meantime, and I think that's already a tv show. Her catalog has always been full of great stuff at affordable prices. I especially love her gardening tips/tv show episodes. Wonder why they won't let her plant a garden? Sounds dumb.
