Great article ... the Monty Python thing is perfect. Mr. Baker has unfortunately omitted one major additional point, which is that more than a two million refugees have peacefully returned to Afghanistan and Iraq. This fact is even corroborated by the UN and other NGO refugee agencies, and studiously ignored by the mainstream press. It belongs on Mr. Baker's list.
What true friend that we had, did we lose in the lat 20 years? I can think of plenty new ones that we've made.

We haven't lost any 'true friends' but we sure lose the fair weather friends across Europe as if they were leaves falling from trees.
