Let's not be too hasty in calling Jon Stewart a total liberal. I've seen him bash both sides of the spectrum. Yes, he tends to bash Republicans a bit more because we have a Republican President and a Republican-controlled Congress. We own the place, we're the most prominent, we're going to get bashed a bit more. I'm confident that if it was the other way around, Stewart would be bashing the Democrats with the same abandon. I'm not saying he doesn't have a liberal bent, but I don't think it is as pronounced as some would claim.

Jon Stewart cuts both ways...and most of his targets deserve the cut. Lets face it...about half of the senators in DC (Rep's and Dem's)...need to be fired. When Stewart puts Ms. Condi's picture up and talks up her "gritty" smile and her pure dislike of public lifestyle...he isn't joking...she absolutely can't stand the public limelight. When Stewart talks about the incompetence of the UN management staff...we knows its absolutely true and they are absolute dimwits. When he pours salt on French wounds...and just barely mentions the bodies still buried at Omaha Beach...he's simply poking at the lack of French memory. When Stewart talks down about Putty-Put (our Russian buddy)...we know that the lack of respect for the Russian leader is actually earned. When we see Stewart do a casual dope-slap for those who jailed Martha Stewart...we know of 100,000 other Wall Street types who ought to be in jail too...but the Feds just never seemed to find time go after them.

Jon Stewart spares no sacred soul. Most all who get a poke from him...deserve it in some fashion. We used to have another favorite American son in the 1930s who slowly earned his wages...by nightly spinning humor around politicans in general. This poor son from Oklahoma...brought fresh air to radio waves, and quietly brought reality into every home at night. And on a chilly day in 1935...we lost Will Rodgers...a great compass of American society. And perhaps for a moment...we ought to put put a great quote up against Jon Stewart...If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging. Jon Stewart stopped digging a while back...and maybe thats a good thing.
