Fired 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes, still standing behind her embattled story questioning President Bush's National Guard service, is writing a book defending the piece.
"When this whole debacle started, I was asked by CBS not to say anything," the Dallas-based journalist said in a phone interview Wednesday. "I had to silently watch while my work was taken apart. I would like a chance to set the record straight about ... the very valid journalism behind the story."

Valid journalism ? She spent five years of her life trying to find anyone to back the bogus TANG story AND DIDN'T GET IT DONE.

When a conservative is accused of lying, the first thing they want to do is set the record straight so they take to the airwaves with a vengeance.
When a liberal is accused of lying, instead of opening themselves up to questions, they write a book so the questions can't be asked face-to-face and so, like the prostitutes they are, they can cash in on their fifteen minutes of fame.
It's always about two things to a liberal, regardless of the bodies they have to step on or over, regardless of the tactics used to accomplish their goals, regardless of the veracity of their argument . . . Power and . . .
A year ago publishers would have jumped at the chance to publish a book by Mary Mapes attacking the President, and all the networks would have promoted it.
Now, I suspect, the left wing publishing establishment will treat her like a leper, just as they are treating Dan Rather. She is spoiled goods.
If you define liberal propoganda as "very valid journalism" then yes, she is correct.
This will be one of those books that the stores put out for the sidewalk sale, 99.9% off sale. I guarantee security won't chase anyone dumb enough to shoplift this book.
Ha! Mary (the planet of the) Mapes giving lessons in journalism is analogous to Michael Jackson giving lessons in child rearing (or O.J., Scott Peterson and Robert Blake on lessons in spousal relations).
I can't quit laughing, Mary (the planet of the) Mapes. That is good!
Or like Al Capone giving instructions on how to fill out tax forms.
