Love the non-attributed quote, probably got it right off of moveon.org or some other reality challenged site.
You can listen live to the program on the internet by going to the Morning News web page. It's on from 5:00 to 9:00am Eastern M-F. Fred's a great right-of-center radio host. His partner, Andy Parks, leans somewhat to the right of Atilla the Hun; he refers to himself as "Maximum Andy" when discussing criminal cases. ;-) Together they're a great morning drive team!
Installing a democracy was always one of the many goals of the Iraq war. What if there was no war? Think about the future. I don't just mean 5 years from now, I mean 100 years from now. After Saddam, there would have been Uday or Qusai, and after that one of his grandchildren. The people of Iraq would continue to have been oppressed, and they would continue to blame the United States for their problems due to continued UN sanctions. Meanwhile, they would have continued shooting at US planes enforcing the no-fly zone on a daily basis. After many years of UN inspectors getting the runaround, they would eventually have given up and Saddam would have started up his nuclear weapons research again. Perhaps 20 years from now, Uday (the mentally unbalanced serial killer) would have had his hands on nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Iraq's would have been tortured to death for speaking out against (or for being suspected of speaking out against) the government. Yes, when you think long-term, it was worth it.
I'd join right now.
