President Bush had some strong words to Syria to get out of Lebanon, noted here.
He and Vice President Cheney welcomed and congratulated the World Series Cham-peens, the Boston Red Sox, who ended a drought of Biblical proportions with their first World Series win in 86 years. With Speaker Hastert and Senator Stevens, he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to Jackie Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, in the name of her husband.
In Arnold, Maryland, the president participated in a job training and education dialogue, linked here.
Secretary of State Condi Rice attended a one-day London meeting, info here, to discuss Iran's nuclear life, the Palestinians, etc. She put off a planned trip to Canada next month, a move seen as a rebuff over Canada's rebuff of the North American missile shield.
Senator Kerry positioned himself obscenely close to the president at Bush's remarks honoring Jackie Robinson.
Other than that crude interruption, enjoy today's visit to Sanity Island.

QUOTE: (with the Boston Red Sox, the 2004 World Series champions, during a South Lawn ceremony celebrating the teams historic achievement) You answered 86 years of prayer, said the President. That's an amazing feat, isn't it? I mean, when the Red Sox won, people all over the world cheered.

With Rachel Robinson and Speaker Hastert
President George W. Bush receives a team jersey during a visit by the Boston Red Sox, the 2004 World Series champions. We wish you all the best in the upcoming season, said the President to the team. We know that you've been able to do what has been viewed to be the impossible.

In this courtroom artist rendering prosecuting attorney David Laufman, standing, argues his case before Judge Liam O'Grady on the bench, right, as Defense attorney John Zwerling, bottom right, and defendant Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, bottom center, listen during a hearing at the U.S. Courthouse in Alexandria, Va. March 1, 2005. Judge O'Grady ordered that Abu Ali, accused of plotting with al-Quaida to kill President Bush, remain in jail pending trial and said that Abu Ali has in his own words indicated that he is a 'grave, grave danger' to the nation.
