Stoen's letter opens with the thing that motivated him to apologize:
I have wanted for a long time to write a letter of apology to you, and reading (on the Free Republic weblog) of the sad event of your recent heart attack, am prompted to do so now.
The Photo on the front page of the Press Democrat features an enlarged version of the hand-written note, with Free Republic just above the crop line.

Sheesh. The least he could have done is take out the Scientologists while he was at it.

Is this the same Les Kinsolving that used to host a local talk show on WCBM radio in Baltimore, MD?

Dude, the show is over, the set is struck. Nobody cares. You're apologizing for an event that is only a macabre footnote in history. And whatever forgiveness you'll receive ain't gonna come from US.

Thanks for posting this story, dr_pat. I'm going to break some personal anonymity here by saying that Les is my father-in-law and Tim Stoen's letter of apology has meant a great deal to him & his family. Bascially, because it is some vindication for us, especially after the San Francisco media (plus other media outlets) all fell for the lies of the Temple and took up for Jones when these first exposes came out. After Jonestown happened, the Examiner/Comicle won't acknowledge these first exposes even exist, because it indicts them of their cowardice for refusing to stand up to the phony libel lawsuits the Temple threatened them with.

If Tim Stoen is lurking & reads this, I want to pass on our deepest thanks & appreciation for your apology. Les is right, you are courageous in making it.

Stoen is the assistant district attorney here in Humboldt County. The local paper, The Times-Standard had a story on his letter today... Click Here"

You might want to ping some of the posters from yesterday.
