Every April Fools day someone in my office used to pull the same prank. He would leave one of those pink "While you were out" phone message slips in peoples message slots indicating that a Mr. Lyon had called. The return phone number indicated would be the phone number for the city zoo. The secretary at the zoo got so used to this she would would respond to the callers that Mr. Lyon was unavailable but Mr. Monkey and Mr. Rhino were there to take the call. At this point the victim would figure out that they had been had.
That is funny, will remember it for this April Fool's
When I was in the Air Force we would leave messages on co-workers desks to call Colonel Sanders and put the number for the local KFC on it. I was amazed at how often it actually worked.
I get to claim this one as an original. The victim was normally the prankster of the office, with lots of brilliant pranks calling other salesmen and pretending to be customers.
I left one of the pink, "while you were out" slips for him while he was taking a call. The message, as best I can remember, was as follows:
Name: Mike Litoris
Message: Please call and tell his receptionist that you have been trying to reach him and that you need her help.
The number I gave him was for a Gynecologist's office.
It worked precisely as I had planned.
He expressed to me afterward that I had earned his respect. :o)
At a large (4500+ employees) facility where I used to work the cafeteria had a bicycle give away. I pulled the same stunt on a coworker with the pink "while you were out" phone message slips. He just happened to be away from his desk when calls came in to tell him he was the winner and that the person would call back the next day. No name or number were on the messages. For two or three days he received similar notes. On the last day of the prank I left a message saying that since he had not returned the calls the bike would go to an alternate winner unless he contacted Ms. Anita Conjugal within the hour. The phone number I gave him was for a local womans prison. Most of the department was in on this as it unfolded and it was a rather good laugh. Wacky, are you out there?
