Plot To Assassinate President Bush Ignored By Liberals

For a free people in the age of terrorism, what is the proper balance between civil liberties and national security?

This debate wracks every Western country. Looking at the United States, the "united we stand" solidarity that followed September 11, 2001, lasted just some months, after which a much deeper divide emerged as conservatives proved far more profoundly affected by the atrocities than did liberals. The result has been the growing political acrimony of the past three years.

Many examples illustrate this divide. For the most recent, take the argument concerning Ahmed Omar Abu Ali between the conservative Bush administration and its mostly liberal critics.

Born in the United States to immigrant Jordanian parents, Abu Ali, 23, was indicted last week of plotting the assassination of President George W. Bush. The prosecution asserts he was in touch with Al-Qaeda and in 2002 discussed ideas of eliminating Bush by getting "close enough to the president to shoot him on the street" or by deploying a car bomb.

Abu Ali's biography indicates how he might have ended up as an Al-Qaeda operative.

He attended the Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria, Virginia, graduating in 1999 as class valedictorian. As an outpost of Saudi values on American soil, the academy enjoys Saudi government funding, is chaired by the Saudi ambassador in Washington, and boasts a curriculum imported straight from Riyadh.

Thus, the first grade teachers' guide at the Islamic Saudi Academy instructs that Christianity and Judaism are false religions. When one realizes that the curriculum is overseen by Saleh Al-Fawzan, who in 2003 endorsed the institution of slavery, this comes as less than a grand shock.

While still living in the United States, Abu Ali developed ties to the "paintball jihadists" of northern Virginia, nine of whom have served time in jail.

Plot To Assassinate President Bush Ignored By Liberals

They didn't ignore it; they were cheering it on.

The brain-dead among us insist on emphasizing that Abu Ali is an American "citizen", rather than he is acting in concert with the world's nastiest physical threat and plotted to kill our head of state.

Not a big surprise, but it certainly defines them.

So what if he is an American "citizen"? Other American citizens have assassinated presidents or attempted to assassinate them. The point is, he did it and he needs to pay the price. He is a terrorist and he needs to be treated as such.

Also, why can't we shut down that school? Don't tell me "freedom of speech." Our founding fathers surely did not mean for us to have a hotbed of terrorism in our midst that spewed out little terrorists!

"They didn't ignore it; they were cheering it on."

I would find that believable.

One time I was lurking in DUmmieland, where one thread described some DUmmies touring Washington, DC. When they reached the location where Ronald Reagan was shot, they let out a cheer for John Hinckley. (Secret Service lurkers take note!)

Liberals are really brain dead. No one is safe from terror. They should work together supporting any administration. It is their best interest for the Country.

I continue to be amazed that the government hasn't closed down that damn school. It is teaching K-12 "Death to the United States" on our own soil, a few miles from the Capitol and the White House. Those of us who object are "racists." It gripes me every time I drive by there. You don't have to look very far for the sleeper cells.

I wish it were as simple as them being brain dead, but they know very well what they're doing. To say they do not have America's interests at heart is a gross understatement.

I notice how whenever the mainstream media covers this story they always talk about the allegded torture that went on. The P.C. media would have absolutely ZERO interest in this story, unless there was some juice they could get on Donald Rumsfeld or Dubya.

The Islamic Saudi Academy’s web site shows it looking innocent enough. No courses on IED’s.

This guy committed an act of sedition that begs for invocation of the Constitutional suspension of habeas corpus, but the Dems in the Senate would prefer that Bush be killed rather than do the responsible thing. Too bad there isn't a way to get them on aiding and abetting.
