Seeking to link the U.S. military command to the abuse of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan, the American Civil Liberties Union and a human rights organization sued Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and three Army commanders Tuesday on behalf of former detainees, charging that the military authorized illegal interrogation techniques.
The federal lawsuit charges that Rumsfeld ordered the "abandonment of our nation's inviolable and deep-rooted prohibition against torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment" of prisoners.
The lawsuit was filed in on behalf of four Iraqis and four Afghanis by the ACLU and the group Human Rights First.
The suit asks the court to declare that the abuse and Pentagon policies were illegal, and that they violated the Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, and military rules. It also asks that Rumsfeld be found responsible for the former prisoners' injuries and that they be awarded unspecified compensatory damages.

We mustn't hurt a hair on the head of those "darling terrorists", we should just sit back, and let them exterminate us -- that's the attitude of the ACLU and these "human rights" organizations. Terrorists have rights, innocent people don't even have the right to live, since they want to prohibit everything, that we could use to succeed in defending ourselves.
Anti-Christian and pro Islamic...
what more can you say...other than they're lawyers?
The ACLU is becoming a grave threat to this country.
What else can you say?
Way past "becoming", Friend.
The time is coming where we will have the choice of shooting them, or bowing down to them.
The ACLU IS a terrorist organization!
This is pure anti-Americanism.
Oh, so you mean F. W. A. - fighting while Afghani or Arab? Why, it's a travesty!
I don't recall any admission by the U.S. that the Gitmo detainees were innocent, but I may have missed that one.
I also see no evidence of a self-inflicted foot injury to Donald Rumsfeld.
Welcome to FR, BTW.
Yeah but all their expenses are paid by the feds the rest is gravy.
"The ACLU is becoming a grave threat to this country."

You are exactly right. They are no longer merely a nuisance, they are indeed a threat, threatening our very survival.
They should instead sue the UN officials who allowed so many things: rape, corruption, etc. Afterall, the UN operates in the US and uses US taxpayer money.
I seriously doubt any such admissions were made, whether by "those at the top" or any "lowly underlings".
Releasing people to nobody's recognizance an obvious admission that they are far from the worst of the worst? I'll bet you failed connect-the-dots in kiddie garten.
The ACLU is becoming a grave threat to this country.
That says it all.
Troll??????If it looks like........and smells like......and walks like........then it must be
ACLU....bend over and part those ass cheeks wide cos' your times a'comin.........
