According to my pharmaceutical chemist wife, the herbal drug manufacturing process is long overdue for some oversight.

The quality control performed at most plants that produce OTC herbal drugs do not meet what she considers minimal requirements (she runs a very tight QC ship though).

We don't need UN treaties to regulate what goes on in America.

Aspirin caused 16,000 deaths last year. While over 25,000 deaths are being tied to Vioxx, I'm not worried about herbs.
This law will allow only 24 vitamin supplements to be available in stores, Vitamin C will only contain 200 mg.

http://www.consumerlab.com

they do a good job at examining nutritional supplements.

Why is it that ephedra herb killed a few people, less than 160 nationwide and it was pulled off the shelves while COX 2 inhibitors killed almost 60,000 was pulled off the shelves for a month and now the Govt. says they can start going back into production? The FDA panel voted 31-1 to allow Celebrex to stay on the market, 17-13 in favor of Bextra, and 17-15 in favor of Vioxx.

Believe me, herbs are the least of our problems.

Well, time for bed, must take my Hopps and Valerian Root, and boy does that root smell.

Of course. They want control over supplements for the profits. It's a huge business. Once the FDA/WTO get control the pharm companies will claim only they can provide the proper controls. How many people have died from use of supplements? Even the ephedra-related deaths are questionable.

"Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties
are of the gift of God?" --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia, 1782.

GOD MADE HERB
GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD
GOD GAVE IT TO MAN

Genesis 1:11
Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its
kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so.

Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is
in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:29
And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose
fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
