I realize that cops have a tough and frequently thankless job. Still, I have seen some mistreat people for no reason. My wife bumped a parked car and a cop - about 22 years old - who saw it banged on her window and screamed at her like she hit his prized pet, then told her to move her car while standing where the mirror would hit him if she complied - luckily she had sense enough not to. All my kids were in the car at the time and they were very nervous. Fortunately an older policeman was there too and jumped in to calm him down.
Also lucky for us, my wife was having lunch with a different cop's wife at the time who saw the whole incident and stood up for her.
My 5 year old said to me last week "I don't like police, they are mean." I explained that even policemen have bad days but they still try to help people in trouble.
I used to teach my kids to always respect the uniform. Not any more. The police have forgotten they work for us.
Another case comes top mind. My ex sister in law was trying to tend to her baby and drive at the same time and wound up running a red light and hitting a police car. The cop said oh don't worry. It was an accident and I'll take care of it. Well he did and then proceeded to follow her around and try to get something going with her. Her husband sent her to the store and then followed and watched and sure enough, here came the cop. My Brother in law filmed the whole thing and threatened to turn it over to the department if he didn't knock it off. He never bothered her again.
My man gets profiled all the time in Santa Monica. Luckily, his brother is a cop in Northern Ca & he knows how to act. He has a shaved head & tattoos which must really piss off many in our police dept. He was recently handcuffed for 20 minutes over a "bicycle violation".....he made the horrible mistake of riding on the sidewalk for 50 feet to avoid getting hit by traffic. Some cops are just reactionary & incompetant. This comes from the lowering of the bar on admissions & ultra PC BS.
