Yep. Souter, Breyer, and Kennedy all were GOP appointees, and all voted to impose their moral viewpoint and obey the power of foreign popular opinion... over the deliberative acts of elected state legislatures. (Joining them were the Clinton appointees, Ginsburg and Stevens IIRC)

Rehnquist was appointed by Nixon.

Stevens was appointed by Ford.

O'Connor, Scalia and Kennedy were appointed by Reagan.

Souter and Thomas were appointed by GHW Bush.

Ginsburg and Breyer were appointed by Clinton.

The Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments forbid imposition of the death penalty on offenders who were under the age of 18 when their crimes were committed. The judgment of the Missouri Supreme Court setting aside the sentence of death imposed upon Christopher Simmons is affirmed.

Well, isn't this just great?

The solons on the Missouri Supreme Court-which, if I'm not mistaken, is right up there with the Delian League, in terms of sober deliberative bodies reaching fair and equitable decisions-have finally divined the implicit meaning of what are founding fathers so painstakingly set out to accomplish two centuries ago.

Really, what would us benighted citizens ever do without the keen, penetrating insight and unmatched wisdom of these benign, robed despots?

Souter and

Wasn't Sununnunnu the one that pushed for Souter? What the heck ever happened to him? He used to be on tv all the time. Is he hiding out in shame over that Souter appointment, or rejoicing that the 'clubbercrat' faction of the GOP got another one of theirs on the Court?
