When Teddy was yelling about how unfair it is that Ken Lay and others can claim a homestead exemption for their mansions in Texas and Florida I couldn't help but laugh---

This guy is bemoaning the 16-20 room mansions and how could we Americans tolerate these scumbags being able to keep their mansions after they
"stole" all of the money from Enron...

First of all, they prolly will end up in prison, so I don't think the mansions are gonna get used much for a while, BUT

How can TEd Kennedy of all people complain about millionaires keeping their mansions after filing bankruptcy, when HE not only got to keep his mansion (s), but his GOVERNMENT-TAX PAYER PAID JOB, after letting a woman die in the least, and killing a woman at the most---

How can he get away with this---if I were a Senator I would just have to get up and challenge his RIGHT to be so hypocritical---

I just switched over to C-span 2 after watching the comedy that is the Michael Jackson trial, and who should I see talking but Sen. Voinivich---

At first I wasn't really paying attention---unfortunately, a lot of conservatives my not have been either, because Sen. Voinivich is not the most flashy member of the Senate, BUT---

He just got up and gave a speech asking that the tax cuts get repealed and not made permanent--

He said that the President's budget was the stingiest (my word) since he as been in Congress, and for that reason he can't see how anyone would justify keeping the tax cuts we have now, let alone making them permanent--

WTF??? All Bush has heard for 2 years is the budget deficit and how he needs to cut spending---so he does, and now a REPUBLICAN senator is the first to get up and ask to raise taxes?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Is that what he was saying?!?!

I had him on mute and was listening to Rush.

I only turned up the sound once and he mentioned something about Medicare, and the sound went right back down.

I'll have to read that tomorrow.

Thanks for catching me up up, O. I took the young 'un to Nemo on Ice. I hope they put up a fight on these judicial appointments. There is so much to lose.

i can't tell you what the whole speech was--like I said, I just switched channels and even then, I assumed he was talking about the Bankruptcy Bill---

By the time I DID pay attention, he was wrapping up his remarks---but I did hear the last part that I posted earlier---

Being a RINO is bad enough, but to actually make a speech about no more tax cuts when you are a REpublican, is ssssooo rotten!!

OUR NATION'S FISCAL SITUATION -- (Senate - March 10, 2005)

Mr. VOINOVICH : Finally, before I close, I want to share my concerns regarding Federal revenues. Many of my colleagues would like to extend until 2010 all or some of the tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003. Moreover, they propose to extend these tax cuts without offsetting the revenues lost to the Federal Government. The various proposals could increase the 5-year deficit by at least $90 billion and possibly as much as $306 billion. This is unacceptable.

Personally, I do not see a need to extend these tax cuts at this time. Now is the time for patience, not haste.

Most of the current tax provisions do not expire until 2010, and even the reduced rates on dividends and capital gains do not expire until 2008. I have consulted with experts such as Alan Greenspan and Pete Peterson who agree the stimulative effect of these cuts helped the economic recovery but also agreed we should pay for extending them with offsets. It is time to pay for them with offsets.

Watching Dingy Harry try to capture the morals and values highground when talking about the Federal budget is pretty funny, I have to admit.
