I don't know that he was made to be an example of, per se. He did commit the crime of which he was accused, that much seems clear if you read the case history. As for white supremist groups, much of their material advocates violence and overthrowing the government. A warning to these groups, in any form, would seem to be a good thing for America. Looking through the web material, I was surprised to find many of the white supremists admire and support Al Qaida, though one tract started out with "we wouldn't want them to marry our daughters, but..."
I agree he did play the role(of a fool)and is being punished for his actions. The are many supremist groups of other races besides casucasin who advocate anarchy/violence. I presume many have forgotten," By any means necessary." Hatred comes in all forms these days, but the (Mosque Boys" are at the head of the line. We used to hear about the klan down where I live, but they faded away. I believe one gentleman summed it up best,(Niger Innis)CORE "Ignore them and they will go away."
