So this is just speculation on the part of the anti-FTAA crowd? There has been no public discussion by administration officials or reputable economists (oxymoron) that the FTAA will result in a common currency?
"A lot of discussion" on "the threads" is not evidence. I'd like to see evidence that this is the direction we are likely to take. When President Bush (41) proposed the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas there was no discussion of common currency, just lowered trade barriers.
If FTAA goes through as planned I doubt we'll hear much from the admin. because they will not want Americans to know about losing more jobs to low wage countries, increased flow of illegals here to colonize....not assimilate, increased taxes to support them all, new supra-national governing commissions (as is the case in the EU), a new set of rights (privileges?) and a hybrid legal system to administer the new paradigm, and most likely a new currency for the whole hemisphere....it might even be the dollar (ala the EU), etc. This is worth investigating becasue I real beleive this is the whole enchilada....as envisioned by Senor Fox.
